However i like categorizing foods in something called your Macro nutrients, this consist of only carbs proteins and fats. When it comes to eating carbs you want to choose complex carbs like vegetables ( broccoli, asparagus, spinach, sweet potato, kale) or whole grains ( quinoa, whole grain brown rice, Ezekiel bread, steel cuts oats) and fruit (bananas, apples, blueberries, strawberries)
For protein you want to buy chicken that is free range, beef that is grass fed and have 93% leanness, and fish that is wild caught not farmed raised.
For fats there are four categories, mono-saturated, poly-saturated, saturated, and trans fat. To be honest trans fat is the only fat you want to avoid at all cost. Food that have trans fat are margarine, donuts, cookies, and some cereals.
My favorite choice of fats are coconut oil, almonds, avocado, olive oil, egg yolks, and grass fed beef.
