  • Hi everyone, my name is Steve and here are my gains after 5 1/2 weeks.

Steve here, I’m 53, retired from the Army back in ‘05. Have a couple of crushed discs that made working out rough if not impossible for long time. Finally got some steroid shots in my back, felt better and started working out on 11 November 2019 - see before and after pic below.

I have a Hoist H100 weight machine, some adjustable dumbbells, an elliptical and a limited income. Workouts are not heavy due to my back but I try to have good form and negative type reps (1 second up, 2-3 seconds down). I eat pretty good, no junk food. Not sure the calories daily but usually eat 1/2 cup oatmeal with 2 spoons of peanut butter powder and some stevia brown sugar. I workout and after I have a 30g protein shake with 2 spoons of peanut butter powder. Lunch is a beef, bean and rice burrito with salsa. Dinner is some meat and veggies(eat a lot of Korean food). Looking to add in another shake during the day to up my protein - any help figuring this out better would be appreciated.

The reason for working out? To get in shape and not be an old cripple when I’m in my 70s & beyond. Not looking to post videos of me trying to set a ton records for deadlifts or benches. Just want to add some muscle (seniors lose about 25% when they hit old). Not sure how long I can work out - I have some bad back pain and if steroid shots in my back don’t last then next thing is fusing my L4-L5 together cause I don’t like being jacked up on opioids. Hope it won’t come to that but only time will tell. Besides working out, I like to shoot guns and teach CCW classes and run a prison ministry to help those in prison be better men with God’s help (it helps me stay out of trouble too).

Anyway I joined Jefit and have been working out for 5 1/2 weeks now. Since that time I have made some good gains.

    Neck: added 1"
    Bicep: added 2"
    Forearm" added 3/4"
    Chest: added 1 1/2"
    Waist: decreased 1 1/2"
    Thigh: added 1 1/2"
    Calf: added 1/2"
    Body fat: reduced 1.44%
Weight: started at 225 lb and now 222.4 lb = 2.5 lb weight loss

So I'm pretty pleased. Looking to add more muscle and get about 235 lbs and would like 17.5" biceps. I like the Jefit app as it helps me keep track of my exercises and progress.

Anyway thats me and have a great day.
